According to a report issued by GfK Travel Insights, Spain maintained its top position as a holiday destination for German, Dutch and British tourists. The report also states that Spain registered higher growth than the market average in UK or Germany. In France, Spain was the third most popular destination, after Italy and Tunisia. Regarding services, “all inclusive” was the most popular promotion in Spain for British tourists.

What about winter?

In the winter 2010/2011 season, Spain has also been retained as the main destination for travelers from the source markets analyzed by GfK. In fact, although in the last year the growth rate of tourists who visit us are still below the market average, no other country attracts more British tourists, German or Dutch.

Which Spanish destination is the most popular?

The destinations vary in relation to the season when tourists come to Spain. During the summer, the British come to the Balearic Islands, while the Dutch are opting to visit the Peninsula. In winter, however, achieve more favorable climatic conditions that the Canary Islands to become the preferred destination for British, Dutch, German and Italian.

Analyze this…

This relation between Italians, French and Spanish is particularly interesting. These three countries have similar features that attract tourists: beaches, cultural places, mountains, etc. What attracts them to see similar stuff in other countries? One reason that I can think of refers to  the proximity of the destination.

What do you think?
