home sales go back on a negative path

Just when we thought that the real estate market was out of the woods, we came across this statistic.

Home sales  dropped 4.1% in September over the same month last year and broke the eight months of growth in total. Out of the 36,049 closed transactions,  50.4% of them were  new homes and 49.6% of second-hand property, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

This decrease in activity comes after great data from August, when the number of transactions increased by almost 30%.  From August to September, the sales dropped 17,7%. Now that’s a big drop!

In September, 61.1% of house sales were recorded in Andalusia, Madrid, Catalonia and Valencia. The communities with the highest number of housing sales transactions per 100,000 inhabitants were Cantabria (127) and Murcia (126).
