The Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Miguel Sebastián, participated last week at a debate conference regarding the hybrid and electric car market in Tokyo. This debate highlighted the cooperation oportunities that exist between Spanish and Japanese companies.

La Moncloa states that: “The Government is convinced of the potential provided by this type of vehicle and believes that they are the best strategy for the future of the automotive industry in Spain, a country that is the third largest car manufacturer in Europe and the eighth largest in the world. The use of renewable energies is an integral part of the electric car concept, they make use of technology that is already available, they are more efficient than conventional vehicles and they have a more beneficial effect on the environment.”

Alternative energy is more and more promoted. Electric cars would be a great solution for reducing the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Even if the electric car is indeed the best strategy for the automotive industry, it’s important that the actual industry (factories, plants, etc) reduce its emission and lower its carbon footprint.
