The Malaga Museum of Cars will open soon

The Malaga Museum of Cars will open on the 17th of September. It will be housed in the old tobacco factory and it will have on display 80 vehicles, from cars built in 1898 to those built in 2010. The stars of the collection are a 1910 steam engine vehicle, a 1916 electric car, a 2009 solar powered cars called “The spacecraft” and a 2010 model, a prototype of an hydrogen vehicle.

These days the cars will travel the city in order to promote the museum opening. The Museum will support Málaga’s candidature as European Capital of Culture in 2016.

The most valuable piece of the collection is a Mercedez-Benz 540K from 1936, used by the Nazi regime. It is valued at about 700. 000 Euros. The entire collection is valued at about 20 million Euros.

The museum will be divided in10 themes: alternative energy, early 20th century, Belle Epoque, the 20’s, the 30s, the 50s, Hollywood, British Tradition, Extravagance and Popular Cars.

The entrance fee will be 6 euros and the fee for students will be 4,5 euros. Seniors over 65 years old, children under 6 years will pay 3 euros.
